FRUIT

Hass Avocados: Supplies for Cinco de Mayo were ample from Mexico. The fruit is of high  quality, with a high oil content and creamy flavor.

Strawberries: Promotable ahead of Mother’s Day from California. Pricing is very  aggressive, as Oxnard, Santa Maria, and now Watsonville/Salinas are all harvesting good numbers and quality has been beautiful with big sizes.

Blackberries: Prices are easing off as harvests increase outside of Mexico. There will be a transition to domestic crops from Georgia and California in June.

Blueberries: Georgia and Florida continue to harvest larger supplies and it is expected that North Carolina will begin harvesting by mid-May. Prices are low.

Raspberries: Supplies are limited with higher pricing. Harvests in Mexico will end, while those in California are not yet ready to harvest. We expect higher prices.

Seedless Watermelon: In season from Florida and Mexico.

California Stone Fruit: Now in season, although limited. Supplies will increase as quality and pricing improves.

Oranges: Supplies remain on California Navel oranges, the blood orange season is winding down.

Red and Green Seedless Grapes: Available from Chile with excellent quality. Mexico will start shipping Grapes mid-May.

Fresh Mangoes: Supplies have improved. Larger sizes are still tight but smaller fruit is in good supply. We also have sweet Ataulfo Honey Mangoes.

Ginger: The new crop from Brazil will contain more moisture so only order what you need.

VEGETABLES

Broccoli Crowns: Outstanding quality and competitive pricing available from the East Coast. California consistently offers broccoli rabe and broccolini, both of which have  exceptional quality.

Celery: Volume is challenging and prices remain high.

Sweet Corn: Fresh from Florida, in peak season.

Lettuce: Supplies are rapidly becoming unfavorable. In California, disease pressure has primarily affected romaine Lettuce, creating a limited supply and elevated cost; however, the additional  strain on other parts of the category has resulted.

Cauliflower: Will be in better supply by mid-May.

Green Beans: Quality is still excellent, but field  transitions are causing a drop in volume. Prices are higher.

EGGS + DAIRY

The conventional egg market continues to correct. The butter market continues with record-setting high pricing. The cheese markets are still strong, especially the barrel Market which jumped over 10 cents per pound.
